Greetings. Приве́тствия.

Russians have 2 manners of speaking, formal and informal. You need to use a formal way of speaking with people who you meet the first time, who are much older than you, or who are your teachers or bosses. You always need to use this way of speaking with Russian women until they allow you to speak informal with them. When a man and a woman greet each other in a formal setting, they usually shake their hands and a man extends his hand first. If he sits at that moment he needs to stand up and to sit down again just after a woman.
An informal way of speaking you should use just with your friends and mates.
Let's learn two kind of Russian greetings.

           1. Здра́вствуйте. [zdrˈastvʊjtɪ] (a formal way of 'hello')

          2.
Приве́т. [prɪvˈet] (an informal way of 'hi')
